Ripping Yarms, Stones, Man City And The Signing Of The New Alcaraz?

This Yarmelenko stuff is exciting isn’t it? Whether or not he signs for us in the coming hours is yet to be seen, but signing a player a full 10 days before the close of the season? Heady days, folks.

You watch him fail the medical now. A medical no doubt that KENWRIGHT knows he’ll fail. Pah!!!

Anyway, he looks decent on YouTube and that certainly works for me. We haven’t made that kind of mistake before with players from the Ukraine/Russia area.

This weekend gives us the chance to smash into Man City as we all love to do. For years we were their bogey team under Moyes as Tim Cahill terrorised them at their place, and who can forget Fellaini making a fool of Craig Bellamy in the centre of the park?

This year sees a very strong City side (two 3-0 wins under their belts from two potentially tricky fixtures) arrive at Goodison with a great deal of confidence, but they won’t exactly be thinking that we’ll be a pushover. With Lukaku on fire at the moment and Kone’s evil talented twin turning up this season we seem to be doing okay and playing up against an attacking team like City gives us every chance of getting at least a point from the game.

I’ve bored you most weeks with the thought that we always struggle against the ‘smaller’ teams who come to park the bus at Goodison but with City wanting to get forward as much as possible it gives players like Barkley the chance to stream forward and hit them on the break. Should be a decent game, and I’ll predict that we’ll draw 1-1. Would love a win, clearly, but a point in the circumstances would be acceptable.

Fancy 1-1 for the match on Sunday? Get 7/1 on that from Bet365, who are best price at the moment.

Elsewhere the John Stones saga rumbles on. The media are still pretty desperate for him to sign for someone like Chelsea to create headlines, but they also love to muddy the waters by stating that he should stay with us ‘for another year’ so as to play a lot and do well for England.

They are producing so many conflicting opinions from one minute to the next that it’s doing exactly what they want: giving them something to talk about. Let’s face it, if you have a 24 hour a day sports radio station or TV channel you’ll need to fill it with something. I think some Blues are getting caught up in the whole thing and stressing too much – if the Board want to sell him then they will. At the moment they don’t want to.

And talking about the Board, I’m not too sure about them staying a bit silent on the recent allegations but shouldn’t we be giving them credit for not crumbling at a £25m bid for a young lad who we bought for £3m two years ago?

We also seem to be close to signing some mad Argentinian defender from River Plate for $8m. Ramon Funes Mori has been described by fans across social media by ‘terrible and frightening’ by someone who has seen him play recently, ‘the worst defender in South America’ by a journalist from the area and ‘someone who the fans adore’. That all adds up to it all being quite interesting.

He could be an absolute beast whose aggression and enthusiasm spreads across the team and leads us to glory or an unmitigated disaster who gets sent off every week. Probably still a better option than Distin or Alcaraz though I guess. I mean, dragging someone halfway across the world to play for us means that we must be pretty sure he’s half decent doesn’t it? Well? Doesn’t it?!?
