QPR, Kiev, Internationals and Stuff

Well it’s been a little while hasn’t it?

Plenty of stuff has happened since that point, obviously. Martinez has been back on track following those victories against Kiev at home and Newcastle (MARTINEZ IN!!), then the defensive capitulation came about away in Kiev (MARTINEZ OUT!!). We then got the win away at QPR (MARTINEZ IN FOR THE RESULT, BUT OUT COS WE PLAYED RUBBISH!!) and now we’re into the international break.

I’ll be honest, right now I’m not sure if the internet cyber warriors that speak on behalf of the Super Blues want him in or out at the moment!

It’s a strange time to be an Everton fan. We seem to fall into two camps, of which I must admit to switching effortlessly between the two:

a) Get rid now – he’s not learnt anything from last season and a bad start next season could send us spiraling into the Championship just as the further Sky/BT TV money starts rolling in.

b) Give him another season at least. Moyes had a very bad second season and he turned things round and got 4th the following year.

The games against Newcastle and QPR on paper looked easy and games that we should have won, so thank Christ that we did. Now that it looks very unlikely that we’ll get relegated (which was a genuine fear ahead of the game v the Geordies) our season is effectively over apart from wanting to finish strongly and get as ‘high as we can’ in the table according to the players and manager – bearing in mind the best we can really do is 11th excuse me for stating ‘whoop de soo’ on that one.

We all had hopes of getting to the latter stages of the Europa League – sorry to the media for us letting down everyone in England by the way – but no-one really thought we’d win it. Martinez right royally messed up the tactics though to the point that people were suggesting that Moyes would have done better. Some of us have obviously forgotten Bucharest away and our trips to Portugal in recent years!

So to the internationals – obviously it’s important that our players get some game time but come back without injuries. Hopefully a rest for players like Lukaku will mean they are fit for the weekend and you’d think we’d get a result for Southampton at home on Saturday.

Oh, hang on, Pelle hasn’t scored for 18 games? Pile on lads…
