League Cup Glory Assured As Injury-Ravaged Everton Thrash Man City!

Of course I don’t believe a word of that but fancied it as a title for this one…

We’re only half the way through the Capital One Cup semi-final against Double Denim FC and none of us will be feeling that comfortable in being able to defend a one-goal lead. Let’s face it we can very rarely keep a clean sheet these days and our record v Citeh since Cahill left is pretty dire.

It would be fantastic to get through against City who, let’s face it, might not care too much about this competition whilst still being in the Champions League and title race, although it’s likely we’ll have to face them lot across the park in the final after their dire victory over Stoke City in the other semi. Urgh. It’d be hideous playing them at Wembley. Just awful…

We enter the FA Cup this weekend against the mighty Dagenham and Redbridge which will thankfully give Martinez a chance to give some of the ‘fringe’ players a run-out and finally give players like John Stones and Barkley a rest I hope. Expect McGeady to find his level in this match alongside Darron Gibson and Leon Osman and for Kone to be played up front (unless Naismith can be persuaded to give up his dream to play for Norwich City in the FA Cup 4th Round).

We might even see Aaron Lennon and possible Monaco-bound Mirallas play the whole game, whilst Jagielka will no doubt be eased back in with this match due to the injury to Coleman which could see Stones moved to right-back for the upcoming away games against Man City (twice) and Chelsea.

Let’s face it, we should snot this lot 5-0 and the smart money would be on a 5-1 win as we normally win against lower league teams by that scoreline. Some of us though haven’t forgotten Oldham at home in 2008 or Reading at home. Or Wigan at home. Or Bradford at home. Or Shrewbury away. Oh god.

I mean, a girl who works for me supports the ‘Daggers’ and my life won’t be living if they get a result against us, so I’m praying for Robles to be in goal and for Jags to look after the defence.

If you fancy a bet on the game have a look at the latest enhanced odds page at our betting partner or go straight to Bet365 for the best odds on this one. We’re still about 14/1 for the cup outright in the betting you know…

Oh, and we signed some kid and then loaned him back to Switzerland for a bit. He’s meant to be the next ‘Shaqiri’ which could be exciting, although I’ve never rated him so my excitement levels aren’t at an all-time high for now. Sorry.
