Could Berbatov Be Arriving At Goodison Park?

So could the smooth yet potentially past-it striker Dimitar Berbatov be making a move to Goodison Park before the transfer window closes?Roberto Martinez this morning took his normal pre-game interview ahead of the Palace game on Saturday and was asked about his transfer plans.

He was asked specifically about whether Berbatov had been offered to Everton recently and answered as follows: “I know you love to throw names out but I’ll never comment on other players. He is registered with another club so I won’t comment,” said the boss.

The interviewer didn’t give up, adding ‘does the same go for Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall (another rumoured target)?”

Martinez replied: “Is he registered to another club? Then yes, no comment.”

The interview was, as you’d expect, mostly about transfer targets and when asked about whether we’d be getting anyone else in at all to cover for injuries and the departed Eto’o he answered:

“It is hard to tell. We are not looking at this window to try and find solutions. We did that work in the summer.

“I feel the work is to try and get the players back in a confident mood and to remind them, we haven’t lost any of the talent we had last season. We have a strong squad.

“But as a football club we will always try to use the windows in our favour.”

Martinez also indicated that we had enough players to take the ‘number 10’ role instead of Eto’o, neatly side-stepping the fact that the fans didn’t want him playing there – we wanted him up top with Lukaku or Kone.

The next few days should be very interesting indeed!
