Can Everton Build on Naismith's Hat Trick ? Here Come The Swans!

You can’t believe the utter fuming that was going on at Everton last Saturday between 2.30pm and 3.20pm…

“I can’t believe he’s gone with that defensive line-up! Lennon, Deulofeu and Mirallas on the bench?!? Chelsea have problems at full-back and we aren’t attacking them on the flanks?? Useless Martinez… useless…”

“Besic going off? Good, then one of the wingers will come on… WHAT?!? Naismith?!?!? Oh you have to be kidding me. Looks like we’re playing for the draw then. Thanks a lot Martinez. NO ambition that lad… Get that plane back with that banner”

One hat-trick later…

“You see, Naismith always delivers against the big teams. Great decision to bring him. Wahey, did you see what Stonesy just did!…”

Just shows us once again that we know nothing and that managers sometimes get lucky! The win against Chelsea was as emphatic as it could be although the shine was slightly taken off it as the media preferred to concentrate instead on Chelsea’s problems.

It’ll be interesting to see whether Martinez sticks with the ‘winning team’ from Saturday against a different side in Swansea who are so quick and hungry when playing at home. He seems to think it too much of a risk at the moment to play with his army of wingers, with Mirallas barely getting a sniff since signing his new contract.

The press also concentrated massively on John Stones who deservedly took a lot of praise for his performance, but it was the all-round work that was put in that pleased me. Kone again looked a different player and Gareth Barry had his annual game that probably earns him another year on his contract…

Ahead of next Saturday, the Swans are looking good apart from their slip-up to Watford last weekend and it could be a tough one. It’s difficult to know whether we’ll now go on a barn-storming run or whether it’ll just be another high on the roller-caster that we live on due to Martinez being our manager. He was like this at Wigan and Swansea, with highs and lows coming in equal measures.

Of course in my article – http://wp.me/p4U38f-4v looking at our fixtures I stated that we would have a nightmare first 10 games, and my prediction was that we’d take 11 points from them. I’ll be honest enough to say that I thought I was being quite generous at the time, but before people start telling me just how wrong I was let’s look at the last few games coming up:

Swansea (a), West Brom (a), the RS (h), Man Utd (h) and Arsenal (a). Now who in all confidence can state that we’ll get more out of those 5 games than the obligatory win against Man United?!? Looking at how we’ve done recently I think we’ll get 5 or 6 points from those, and that will put us slightly ahead of my prediction.

What do you think?
